Steering committee meeting Vilnius

On June 15 th, ECR held its Steering Committee meeting in Vilnius. The Steering Committee was the final meeting held under the Lithuanian presidency. From July onward the presidency will be assumed by Luxembourg, one of ECR's founding members.

The bulk of the meeting was dedicated to the progression to the European Grouping of Territorial Cooperation (EGTC). Important steps were taken:

- CESCI presented its study on the different candidate seats
- the building blocks for the statutes were clearly outlined and a task force started
- the vote on the seat and first draft of the statutes will take place in the November Sterring Committee in Luxembourg

Aside from the budget the an overview was given of the state of affairs of the working group deliverables, ECR's external contacts and the restructuring of the working groups was approved and green lighted for implementation. 

In the afternoon the meeting was joined by a delegation from the Ukraine inspectorate. Ukraine has been involved in a twinning programme with ECR members Poland,Germany and Lithuania. The Ukrainian deputy Minister of Transport reaffirmed Ukraine's commitment to transposing and complying with the EU road transport acquis. Although ECR cannot extend membership to Ukraine at this point Diego the limitations set by the Administrative Agreement, the Steering Commitee unanimously decided to invite the Ukrainian colleagues to the working groups and training activities as observers.
